Space warfare is a term used to classify conflict that takes place in Low Earth Orbit (200km above the surface of the Earth) and/or higher.

Technically as a distinct classification, it refers to battles where the targets themselves are in space. Space warfare therefore includes ground-to-space warfare, attacking satellites from the Earth, as well as space-to-space warfare, satellites attacking satellites. It generally does not include space-to-ground warfare, where satellites attack ground targets directly, or the indirect military use of satellites for espionage, surveillance, or military communications.
