Cultural warfare is a term used to describe decentralized conflict occurring across a range of different theatres of conflict, states and regional boundaries distinguished by one or more of the combatants typically not being states, but unified under a common cultural ideology.
| |
Cultural warfare is a superior term to the concept of “Fourth generation warfare (4GW)” in that it clearly identifies a unique theatre of war, the general overriding constraints by which the conflict is pursued and the unique characteristic of combatants.
| |
Cultural warfare is distinct from asymmetric warfare, guerrilla warfare and terrorism in that asymmetric warfare and guerrilla warfare are generally classed as tactics and methods of war, while terrorism is more appropriately classed as a weapon centric method of warfare.
